HUCHUY QOSQO TREK FULL-DAY TOUR

Overview

HUCHUY QOSQO TREK/FULL DAY HIKE

The Huchuy Qosqo Trek full-day tour allows you to see the grandeur of the Peruvian Andes. While the Inca Trail and other multi-day walks are well-known in South America, our full-day trip provides a unique chance to get away from the city and reconnect with nature.

Huchuy Qosqo, which means “Little Cusco” in Quechua, is situated at a height of 3,650 meters (11,800 feet), above the town of Lamay and the Sacred Valley. This breathtaking trail can only be reached on foot and offers panoramic views of the Sacred Valley and the spectacular snowcapped mountain range of Urubamba.

The Huchuy Qosqo Trek is ideal for those looking for a tough trekking journey. The climb ascends to the ruins of Huchuy Qosqo, where you can learn about the area’s intriguing history before descending a series of switchbacks to Lamay village, which marks the finish of your journey.

If you have more time, you may combine this walk with a visit to Machu Picchu, giving your Peruvian journey even more depth. With our Huchuy Qosqo Trek Full-Day Tour, you can immerse yourself in the region’s breathtaking scenery and rich history.

After being picked up from your hotel early in the morning, you will travel over winding hills towards the Sacred Valley until you reach the Piuray Lagoon, which is situated near the town of Chinchero.

The 8 to 9-hour journey will begin in the adjacent village of Tauca. As you begin your hike, you will be greeted with a beautiful view of the sun’s early morning rays on Mount Veronica, gently lighting up the whole Vilcabamba Range.

What to Bring on the Huchuy Qosqo Trek

No matter when you go to Huchuy Qosqo, you’ll need to bring a few things with you. Here are some things to bring:

  • You will need your original passport to go to Machu Picchu.
  • You can carry your things on the trail with a small backpack or a large daypack.
  • Even during the summer, the nights in the Andes can be cool.
  • A sweater or light jacket for the hike and a winter coat for the night.
  • hiking boots or shoes that fit well and have been worn in. Huchuy Qosqo’s ruins are spread out over a large area, so you’ll have to walk a lot. Shoes that are sturdy and comfortable are a must.
  • Depending on the weather, warm socks and extra layers of clothing can be added or taken off.
  • A hat and sunglasses to keep the sun off your face.
  • Protection from the sun: UV rays are strong at high altitudes, so bring sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
  • Insect repellent, wet wipes
  • A first-aid kit with bandages, antiseptic wipes, painkillers, and other things.
  • A flashlight or headlamp for walking at night or getting up early in the morning.
  • To stay hydrated on long days of hiking, bring water bottles or something like a Camelbak.
  • If you plan to hike during meal times, bring snacks and food for lunch.
  • Camera!
  • Snacks: Huchuy Qosqo doesn’t have any restaurants, so if you get hungry, you’ll need to bring your own snacks. Bring some granola bars or other snacks that are easy to carry.
  • Extra money for tips, souvenirs, and drinks.
