Overview.
Day 1: Welcome to Cusco – Cusco City Walk
Arrival in Cusco. After a short break at your hotel, take a stroll through Cusco to discover the main attractions and learn about the history of Cusco. During this walk, explore Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the 12th corner of Stone Street, Loreto Street, as well as the Qoricancha or the Temple of the Sun.
Day 2: Sacsayhuaman and nearby ruins + Pisac (ruins and market)
Spend the day exploring the Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, and Tambomachay archeological sites, located on a high hill above Cusco, then exploring the ruins and market of Pisac in the Sacred Valley; including a visit to Llama and Alpaca Farm.
Day 3: Sacred Valley Tour (Chinchero, Moray, Maras, Ollantaytambo) – Aguas Calientes
Take a tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and visit the weavers of Chinchero and the main Inca sites such as the Moray Inca agricultural ruins, the Maras salt mines such as Ollantaytambo, before taking the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo. There you will spend the night in a hotel.

Machu Picchu & Rainbow Mountain Package Tour 5 Days
Intro: We’ll meet you in the lobby of your hotel in Cusco the night before the “Rainbow Mountain & Machu Picchu Tour” 5 days” to review the itinerary and take the opportunity to ask the final questions and make the final preparations. Day 1: We welcome you to Cusco – Cusco City Walking Tour
Upon arrival at Cusco airport, a Magical Peru Expeditions representative will meet you to take you straight to your hotel accommodation. After picking up from your hotel in Cusco and assistance with check-in, you’ll receive everything you need to prepare for your next trip. The Cusco Empire City is located at 3,400m / 11,155ft, so you will need time to acclimate.
After a short rest, we’ll pick you up from your hotel at 1:00 pm to begin our walking tour of Cusco and explore the main attractions and learn about the history of the city. History of the city of Cusco. First, we’ll visit the Plaza de Armas de Cusco, which is a great place to soak up the local atmosphere and watch the world go by. While you marvel at the exquisite architecture of this place, our guide will share with you some history of the Incas to help you better understand the ancient culture.
We’ll then continue with a visit to the impressive Cusco Cathedral, home to some 300 paintings from the city’s famous Cusqueña School. Next, your guide will take you to see Hatunrumiyoc’s Twelve Corners Stone, one of their most sophisticated examples of craftsmanship, with its 12 corners matching seamlessly with the surrounding wall.
You’ll then visit the fascinating Qorikancha or Temple of the Sun, perhaps the most important Inca site in Cusco. At the end of the day, we’ll take you right to your hotel door for a relaxing night out. You’ll have time to find a bedtime dinner seat for another exciting day tomorrow.
Day 2: Sacsayhuaman and Pisac ruins
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:00 am, by van on our own and takes you on a tour of Sacsayhuaman’s impressive Inca Fort, located north of Cusco. It is characterized by being built of huge stones weighing tons. Ancient Inca architects cut and polished these huge rocks to build zigzag walls that stretched hundreds of meters.
Although only a small portion of the original site remains, the enormous size of the Sacsayhuaman continues to inspire and amaze visitors. Every year on June 24, Inti Raymi is held here to worship the Sun.
Tours Near Cusco
Next, we will visit the Qenqo Temple, carved from a single block of rock. This temple has man-made tunnels, one of which forms an amphitheater. The amphitheater’s original purpose has been lost to time, but most experts agree that the area was used to worship the sun, moon, and stars. You’ll then visit Tambomachay, an Inca archaeological site that features a series of aqueducts and canals with two fountains.
After exploring Sacsayhuaman fortress and nearby ruins, we will head towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas, along the way we will visit the farm of alpacas and llamas, where we will discover these South American camels. Then our tour continues to Pisac town for lunch (not included) at one of the Sunday stalls in the main square.
After lunch, we will go to the Inca archaeological site of Pisac, located in the mountains of the Sacred Valley with its vast agricultural terraces, covered with high hills and magnificent structures. at the Temple of the Sun. After a wonderful exploration of the Inca ruins, we will return to Cusco and see you off at your hotel. Meals are not included. This is a full day tour in a spacious and comfortable private van and a private guide.
Day 3: Moray, Maras, Ollantaytambo) – Aguas Calientes
Our full-day tour of the Sacred Valley will take you to some of the most impressive sights, including Chinchero, Moray Ruins, the Maras Salt Mines, and Ollantaytambo, before taking the train to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:30 in the morning to start our tour of the sacred valley and travel to the beautiful city of Chinchero (3,762 m / 12,343 ft), known for its dust. There you will find beautiful architecture, agriculture, agricultural terraces, but also beautiful textile art.
Our next area of visit is the beautiful Moray Archaeological Site (3,385 m / 11,106 feet), also known as the Inca Greenhouses, which consists of circular terraces with different types of temperatures on each platform, made to adapt. Andean crops such as potatoes, beans, corn, etc.

After exploring and experiencing the energy of this fascinating Inca place in Moray, we will drive to Maras salt mines near the colonial city of Maras. It is a group of more than 3,000 small pools where salt has been mined since the Incas and now locals place salt by hand, as the Incas did in the past. In addition, this salt has a pink color and is known for its healing properties and delicious taste. It is a great gift for everyone at home and is perfect for cooking.
Then we will go to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a Peruvian lunch buffet with many different traditional dishes to choose from. After a break, it was time to take our private transport to Ollantaytambo, where we would visit the 15th-century Ollantaytambo Fortress, which became an important strategic military center and, if necessary, agricultural and religious centers. This archeological site was built as an overlapping terrace with large painted stones carried 8 km / 5 miles away. In the evening we will take the train to Machu Picchu Pueblo at 19:04 and 2 hours later we will be in Aguas Calientes and spend the night at Aguas Calientes.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes Machu Picchu-Ollantaytambo-Cusco
After a well-deserved night of rest, the day you have so much enjoyed has come: Today you will wander the magical and mysterious streets of the historic shrine of Machu Picchu.
Our day began clearly and early at the bottom to make sure we beat a lot of people and you could enjoy the site in peace. We will take a bus, which takes about 25 minutes to reach the entrance to the Inca city, and we will enter before the day starts painting this unique place with its golden color. Take your time and enjoy the vibes and impressive scenery of one of the 7 wonders of the world and feel how powerfully it vibrates. You can take a 2-hour tour of the main sites and then have plenty of time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. If you have an extra entrance, you can go on a trip to the high mountain of Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu to get a wonderful panoramic view of the whole complex.
In the afternoon, you can take a bus to Aguas Calientes or walk back through the dense vegetation that surrounds you for a walk below. Don’t worry, the whole route is marked and it’s a beautiful route if you pay for it. You can have a free afternoon lunch at the restaurant of your choice and stroll through the rest of this beautiful city. Your train leaves Ollantaytambo at sunset, but don’t forget to arrive at the station 30 minutes before departure time! From Ollantaytambo, we will take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 5: Cusco – Cusipata – Rainbow Mountain – Cusipata – Cusco
Our Rainbow Mountain day hike starts early in the morning! We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 am, in our private van, and travel about two hours south of Cusco until we reach the village of Cusipata, where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast.
After breakfast, we will return to our van to continue driving for 1 hour to the top of the Rainbow Mountain trail, known as Phulawasipata. It will take you about 1.5-2 hours to walk to Vinicunca Pass, the classic Rainbow Mountain viewpoint. Along the way, we’ll appreciate the typical landscape and flora, and fauna of the Andes, highlighting llamas and alpacas.
Arriving at the Vinicunca or Montaña de Colores lookout point (5,200 m / 17,060 ft), we will have a beautiful panoramic view of not only Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca Mountain, but also the snow-capped Ausangate Mountains (the highest) in Cusco), the valley with herbivorous alpacas, and the “red valley” in the distance.
At the top of Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, we will spend about 45 minutes admiring the unique beauty of this natural formation and feel the thrill of witnessing an unforgettable sight. After having a great time at Peru’s famous Rainbow Mountain, snap a few photos and explore the surrounding area.
We will then return along the same route at about 1h30 to our starting point where our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Cusipata; here we will enjoy lunch. After lunch, we will begin our return trip to Cusco, arriving between 4 and 5 pm. We will then drop you off at your hotel.
