Short Inca Trail 2 days – Hike to Machu Picchu

Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO – KM 104 – AGUAS CALIENTES

For your short Inca trail hike, you will be pick up from your hotel at 4.00 am, then with our private transportation will heading to Ollantaytambo train station which last 1 hour and 30 minutes bus rides, and leave on the 6.10 am train from Ollantaytambo to KM 104 the train rides last for about 1.45 minutes until Km 104, here all the people who are doing this magnificent 2 day Inca trail hike  get off from the train, stop here just for a few minutes then continues until its final destination Aguas Calientes Machu Picchu

 

but before getting to Km 104, on our way you can see many interesting historical places, the soaring snow-capped mountains peaks like Veronica, the cornfield farms, the famous and important river Urubamba or Vincanota, and the Andean terraces, as we keep on our journey of Inca trail, you will perceive the microclimate changes from the mountains to the green jungle valleys with ferns, bromeliads, and orchids, also you will notice the temperature that starts to getting warmer and warmer as we keeping on, Once we disembark from the train in Km 104 and cross the bridge you will present you passports, this is the checkpoint for the 1 day Inca trail hike.

 

Magical 2 Days Inka Trail.

Before to continue with our Inca trail hike, you will have a short time to prepare for the magical hike, and the tour guide will give you some advice and recommendations,  soon after we will explore one of our first place called Chachabamba, this place was the first checkpoint to entering to the Inca Trail, continuing our trail for about 3 hours getting now to one of the amazing and attractive ruins in Wiñayhuayna, the view from here is spectacular, the landscape, the waterfall, the Sacred River, farming terraces with a huge variety of flora and fauna makes a perfect place to explore.

 

After that, we have designed a special spot for the box lunch and relax between the mountains and the green valleys of vegetation’s, this time we are heading for one hour to the Sun Gate from here you will have a phenomenal view of Machu Picchu, Huaynapicchu, and the surrounding valleys, for this first day we won’t get into Machu Picchu, but we will come back on the second day, now it’s time to climb down to Aguas Calientes, or if you prefer you can take the bus, this is optional, here is the overnight in our respective Hostels

 

Day 02: Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco.

Today is the second day of Machu Picchu day hike, our staff will come to your hotel to pick you up around 5.20 am, then we are going to take the bus up to Machu Picchu, one important thing the park is open from 6.00 am, the first schedule, for that we need to show the tickets and the passport, here the tour guide will explain for about 2 hours, then you will have free time

 

If you want to hike up to Huayna Picchu, you need to have the permissions, for that you need to buy the tickets in advance, the entrances for this place is very limited, remember this is the highest place and deep in Machu Picchu,

 

Once we explore these places we are going to take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where you can do some extra activities such as going to the hot spring, the entrance for this place is 10 soles, or maybe you can go shopping, etc, after lunch, you need to be at the train station 30 minutes before your check-in, the train will take us until Ollantaytambo, here somebody will transfer to Cusco City.
